Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than 20 years. Buss is the founder and president of Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is the daughter of a California born and raised in a well-off family. Jerry Buss' father was an investor in real estate and went on to own the Lakers and various other sports organizations. Following the divorce of her parents in 1972 and she started to feel emotionally abandoned. When she was 19 years old, she joined the family's business as director of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. In the future, she established her own Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She also served as president of the Great Western Forum before assuming the position of vice president for the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013, and his control over ownership of the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings through a family trust which gave each sibling the same vote.
